Truck Nut

about

To the Gravenhurst anti-mask dude who was generous enough to share his truth with me about the pandemic while I ordered a sandwich. He seemed nice.

Of particular note, his sandwich order:

White flatbread
Double ham
Double white processed cheese
Double mayo

lyrics

On a humid August evening
Headed for a drive-in movie
Summer breezes turned to chills
Soon as you spoke

At first I didn't see you
Until my ears they started to burn
It's like you'd found a dying ember
You could stoke

A few years back, I'd wager
If our paths had ever crossed
You wouldn't have cared to say a thing
I might've heard

But it seems you've found your voice
It's time to tear the whole world down
You put that flag up on your truck
And spread the word

But I think I've read your bible
It's a sad, disjointed gospel
Twisted fables tied together with silly string
Now you work so hard to spread it
Filling strangers with your damage
But the truth is that you don't know anything

Now you've hit your stride
You rant and rave at random strangers
There's nothing new to your
Conspiracies and rage

Driving home that night
I thought about the confrontation
The only thing that I regret
Was I engaged

Cause I think I've read your bible
It's a sad, disjointed gospel
Twisted fables tied together with silly string
Now you work so hard to spread it
Filling strangers with your damage
But the truth is, you don't know a goddamn thing

A goddamn thing

Trade it all for something
And now you've got nothing
Nothing
Nothing at all
